What are the Social and Personal Dysfunctions of schizophrenia?
Symptoms of schizophrenia can lead to dysfunction in many areas of social and personal functioning, including interpersonal relationships, work, education, and self-care. The problem usually becomes evident when the person's level of functioning is clearly below the level seen before the appearance of other symptoms (e.g., people who were previously social may become withdrawn, lose interest in previously pleasurable activities, or become less talkative and inquisitive). Decreased social and personal functioning may also be evident when the person becomes unable to hold down a job, drops out of school, or loses all or many of his or her friends and social contacts.
The goals of the Medical Sites Network are to provide people with meaningful information to make informed decisions about their health and health care.
